After more than 15 years of work, of continual struggle in a climate that challenges
my dreams as an artist every day, this distinction is a support for my commitment in this
sector, particularly in fashion. This honor recognizes my artistic contribution to the
fashion industry and it makes me realize that there is still more to be done to shape
excellence. I will simply be a designer in the spotlight. I will have one of my creations
in a showroom reserved solely to present the works of the various creators who will also be
honored at this gala. The house of Vèvè closed immediately after the famous "Peyi lock" that
we experienced in 2018 I had great difficulty paying for the local, the urgency of the hour
was mainly for basic necessities. It was extremely difficult to hold on. After spending some
time paying for the two spaces, the workshop and the boutique with my savings, friends
advised me to close temporarily until the climate became more serene.
At the moment I work on my designs in a small room with two artisans working on specific
orders, the rest of the staff are on continuous rotation. Vèvè is in full expansion,
it is a company that moves with the times and that understands that fashion is transversal
and that it encompasses a diversity of professions which gives us this ability to orient
ourselves. It also gives us this evolution that we are looking for and which allows us to
grow as creators.
I work on various personal and collective projects with other creators such as the "Ayiti Art"
project, which is a platform that brings together representatives of the cultural sector,
artists, fashion designers of different tendencies around a specific concept for a
well-defined duration for each presentation.
